George A. Yokiel, age 62, of Wells, died Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2003, at his home in rural Wells.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 28, at St. Casimir Catholic Church in Wells. The Rev. Eugene Stenzel will officiate. Visitation will be at the Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells today, Feb. 27, from 4-8 p.m., with a prayer service at 7 p.m., and visitation one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday with rosary at 9:45 a.m. Interment will be in St. Casimir Catholic Cemetery, Wells.

He was born March 8, 1940, in Clark Twp, Faribault Co, to Clement A. and Helen ‎(Sonnek)‎ Yokiel. He married Leona Staloch on April 16, 1963, in Wells.

George graduated from Wells High School in 1958. He attended Iowa State University. He completed Army Basic Training and was in the Army Reserves for six years. He was a farmer who did chemical free farming since 1972 and was a certified organic farmer since 1991, and a dairy farmer until 1998. He was a member of the NFO ‎(National Farmer's Organization)‎. He was a lifelong member of St. Casimir Catholic Church in Wells and its Rosary Society. He served an the Parish Council. He was an active member of the Minneapolis Moline Collector's Club. He enjoyed farming and working with his tractors. He enjoyed visiting with neighbors and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Leona Yokiel of Wells; three daughters: Anita and husband Dennis Thisius of Clarks Grove, Sandra Yokiel of North Mankato, and Kathleen and husband Jack Frost of Green Cove Springs, Fla.; two sons: Gary Yokiel of Wells, and Mark and wife Jessica Yokiel of Wells; three grandchildren: Stephanie, Stacie and Steven Thisius of Clarks Grove; mother, Helen Yokiel of Wells; brothers: Don and wife Dee Yokiel of Wells, Ray and wife Marti Yokiel of Wells, and Chuck and wife Sally Yokiel of Wells; sisters: Mary and husband Gerry Schultz of Richmond, Va., Ann and husband Pat McNabb of Lansing, Mich., and Rita and husband Charles Graveley of Avon, Mont.; and several nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father in 2002, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
