Robert J. �Bob� Stenzel died February 22, 2011 At Longmont United Hospital of a stroke. He was 76.
Robert was born July 16, 1934 in Wells, MN to Casimir and Dorothy (Bushlack) Stenzel. He grew up in Wells where he graduated from Wells High School. He later joined the army serving in Germany from 1957-1960, where he received expert marksman with rifle and good conduct medals, and worked as a clerk and regularly competed in bowling tournaments, attaining a high score of 299.
He moved to the Longmont area in 1961 and married Betty Patricia Christenesen in 1968 in Loveland, CO. Robert was a master carpenter and worked on many custom homes in the area. He was also a crossing guard for the St. Vrain Valley School District for 13 years for Spangler Elementary.
He attended St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and was a 50 year member of the Loyal order of the Moose where he achieved the highest degree of Pilgrim; was Deputy Supreme Governor of Colorado; and the current historian of Longmont #1548.
Robert enjoyed bowling, woodworking, golf, gardening; and was very dedicated to his grandchildren attending all their games and supporting them in everyway. He also enjoyed watching the Colorado Rockies and Denver Broncos.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents and mother and father-in-law.
He is survived by his wife Pat of Longmont; children Misty (Jay) Narum of Longmont, Frank (Christine) Stenzel of Ft. Collins, CO and Kimberley (Charles) Kline of Longmont; his brothers Jake, Kenny and David; his sisters Lorraine, Joann, Diane, and Sandy; grandchildren Jazmine, Kaylene, Skie, Bobby, Billy, Frankie, Victoria, Cayman, and Katie; great-grandchildren Jaycei and Elizabeth; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Memorial service 1:00 PM Friday March 4, 2011 at the Moose Lodge 2210 Pratt St. Longmont, CO 80501. Memorial contributions to the Robert Stenzel memorial fund. Cremation at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel and Crematory. |
