Henry T Hampe buried here Monday; died at Sioux City Saturday Committal services were held here Monday afternoon for Henry T Hampe, 78, Sioux City, a former Rock Rapids resident. Mr Hampe died at an early hour Saturday, in a Sioux City hospital following a brief illness. Services were held at the First Congregational church in Sioux City, at 2 pm today, after which the body was brought here for interment.

Henry T Hampe was the son of Mr and Mrs Nicolas Hampe, and was born at Thielman, Minn, September 23, 1890. The family moved to Rock Rapids in 1901, and this was to be his home throughout his youth. He attended and graduated from the Rock Rapids high school. After attending the University of Iowa he went to the University of Wisconsin, where he received his degree.

Following his college work Mr Hampe went to work for the Iowa Savings Bank, in which the family was interested, and was a cashier of the bank until 1924. In 1924 he went to Sioux City to enter the insurance business in which he was active until his retirement in 1957. When he retired he was manager of the Sioux City agency for the Union Central Life Insurance Company.

Hampe was active in many community affairs at Sioux City and was a former director and president of the YMCA organization there. For three years he was national YMCA delegate. He was associated chairman of the training committee for the Sioux City United Fund in 1954 and was a past president of the Life Agency Managers association. Mr Hampe was a member of the Chamber of Commerce, the Adult Education Foundation, a trustee of the First Congregational church, and past president and director of Family Services, Inc. He also was a member of the Elks club, the Empire Club, the Sioux City Boat club and Kappa Sigma social fraternity.

Survivors include the widow; the son, Henry T jr of Westport, Conn; two daughters, Mrs Stanford Rowe of West Covina, Calif, and Mrs Charles Clark of Pasadena, Calif; five sisters, Miss Anita Hampe, Miss Bertha Hampe and Mrs Dorothy Scanion, all of Spirit Lake, Iowa, Mrs Bernadine Page of Columbia, Ohio, and sister Mary Electa of Clyde, Mo; and 10 grandchildren.
