Last Rites Held for J. P. Kronebusch Prominent Woodland Farmer Dies After Long Illness John P. Kronebusch, prosperous and prominent Woodland farmer, passed away at his home early Saturday morning, July 10, at 2:20, death being due to cancer. He had been in ill health form more than a year and for the past five weeks had been confined to his bed. Although at times a great sufferer and knowing that the end was near, he remained cheerful and contented to the end. Mr. Kronebusch was born on his father's farm at Oak Ridge, January 31, 1876. He attended school at Mount Vernon until 14 years of age, and then assisted his father on the farm. Later he went to North Dakota, where he purchased land. This he operated for two years, then returned to his old home. On February 18, 1903, he married Clara Walch at Oak Ridge. He then purchased his present home farm four miles southeast of Plainview, where they have continued to reside for the past 40 years with the exception of three years spent at Wabasha. He erected a new residence, improved his buildings and made a beautiful farm home. He was a man of industry and a very successful farmer. A kind and indulgent father, loyal neighbor and friend. Always ready to promote and to give to any good cause he will long be remembered by the many staunch friends he had made during his life in the community. He was interested in the welfare of the community and all public affairs, and was member of the town board for nine years, and also a member of the Woodland school board for a number of years. He is survived by his wife and the following children: Clarence at home; Sylvester, Woodland; Celestia (Mrs. Leo Steffen) living at home. One daughter, Theresa, their oldest child passed away March 13, 1923. Five grandchildren also survive. His father died 24 years ago and his mother died 14 years ago. The following brothers and sisters: Michael Kronebusch, Baylor, Mont.; Mathew Kronebusch, Sanborn, ND; Mrs. George Diemert, Valley City ND; Mrs. Lizzie Stroeder, Marysburg, Can.; Peter and Jacob Kronebusch, Oak Ridge. The following brother and sister preceded him in death, Mrs. (Susan) Kirch, Mrs. Jacob Stroeder and Nicholas Kronebusch. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday morning at 9 o'clock by Rev. Father T.F. O'Connor from St. Joachim's church, internment made at St. Felix cemetery at Wabasha. The following cousins acted as pall bearers; John B. Kronebusch, Edward Kronebusch, Peter Greden, Nicholas Siebenaler and Peter Faber. Funeral services for John Peter Kronebusch, 67, who died at his home in Woodland Township, Minnesota, USA, six miles southeast of Plainview, Minnesota, USA, at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, 10 July 1943, will be conducted Tuesday, 13 July 1943, at 9 a.m. at St. Joachim's Catholic church, in Plainview, Minnesota, USA, the Rev. T. F. O'Connor officiating. Burial will be in St. Felix cemetery, Wabasha, Minnesota, USA. Mr. Kronebusch was born in Oak Ridge, Minnesota, USA, 30 January 1876, the oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Johanna Peter Kronebusch. He lived on a farm in Dakota, Minnesota, USA for two years before his marriage to Clara Walch of Oak Ridge, Minnesota, USA. Mr. and Mrs. Kronebusch made their home in Woodland Minnesota, USA for 40 years except for three years spent in Wabasha, Minnesota, USA, about 20 years ago. Mr. Kronebusch served on the Plainview, Minnesota, USA, town board for nine years and was a member of the Woodland, Minnesota, USA school board for several years. He had been ill for about a year. Survivors are his wife Clara; two sons, Clarence, on the home farm, and Sylvester, of Woodland, Minnesota, USA; one daughter, Celestia, at home; four brothers, Matthew, of Sanborn, North Dakota, USA, Michael, of Baylor, Montana, USA, and Peter and Jacob, of Minneiska, Minnesota, USA.; and two sisters, Mrs. Barbara Diemert, of Sanborn North Dakota, USA and Mrs. Elisabeth Stroeder, of Marysburg, Saskatchewan, Canada. Pallbearers were cousins of Mr. Kronebusch, John Baptiste Kronebusch, Edward Kronebusch, Peter Greden, Nicholas Siebenaler, Mathew Siebenaler and Peter Faber. John Peter Kronebusch and Miss Carrie Walch, both of Oak Ridge, Minnesota, USA were united in marriage in the Catholic church at Oak Ridge, Minnesota, USA on Wednesday morning, 18 February 1903, Rev. Father Schmitz of Rollingstone officiating. The were attended by Nic Kronebusch, a brother of the groom, and Miss Mary Ann Walch, a sister of the bride. Following the ceremony the relatives and friends of the couple repaired to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Walch, the parents of the bride, where a sumptuous dinner was served. The afternoon was then spent in a most enjoyable manner dancing and merrymaking. The couple were the recipients of many beautiful presents. Those present from abroad were Mr. and Mrs Clem Hundt, Misses Katie Burg and Millie Koob and Phillip Burg of Caledonia, Minnesota, USA, Matt Steichen and daughter Leona, Peter Speltz and John Walch of Winona, Minnesota, USA. The young couple are will known and highly esteemed in the community in which they have spent the greater part of their lives. They will make their home on a farm on Oak Ridge, Minnesota, USA, accompanied by the best wishes and sincerest congratulations of a host of friends.
