The Stenzel Family

Cecilia was a beautiful baby girl who lived in Lakeville, Minnesota and was just 11 months old when she drowned. She had been left in a bathtub with her 2-year-old brother while her mother was on the computer downstairs shopping for shoes. Cecilia was the daughter of Katherine and Todd and left four older siblings as well as her grandparents Betty and Jim Koberoski. Cecilia's mother was charged for her death with 2nd degree manslaughter charges. It was determined that Katherine was suffering from untreated bipolar disorder. After several months, Katherine plead guilty to 2nd degree manslaughter and due to her mental illness and response of getting treatment, received a sentence of 4 years with all, but 6 months stayed, as long as she meets probation requirements. Meaning she was sentenced to 6 months in jail. She was allowed to have work release 3 days a week but had to return to jail at night. She was also eligible to reduce her sentence by up to 2 months with good behavior. Lastly, the judge ordered that county supervision continue and ordered Katherine's mental health provider to send quarterly health updates.
