David S. �Pops� Stenzel, 63, of Hygiene, CO passed away March 1, 2012 at the Hospice Care Center in Louisville after a year long battle with cancer. He was born May 11, 1948 in Wells, Minnesota to Casimir and Dorothy (Bushlack) Stenzel. David attended Wells-Easton High School. He served in the US Army from 1968 to 1970. Following his discharge, he moved to California and then to the Longmont, CO area in 1972 where he lived out his life and was affectionately known to family and friends as Uncle Dave. David was an expert in many aspects of the home building business. He loved fishing, card playing, storytelling, inventing unusual items and was very proud of his long beard. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Robert Stenzel and his wife Vickie Russell. David is survived and was loved by two brothers Jake Stenzel (Colleen), Kenneth Stenzel (Pat), four sisters Sandy Korlath, Lorraine Alksnis (Val), JoAnn Maag (Chuck), Diane Flynn (Tom), sister-in-law Patty Stenzel, numerous nieces and nephews. David�s siblings would like to thank Patty Stenzel, nieces Misty Narum and Kimberley Kline as well as long time friend Ray Kutash for their love and care during David�s illness. Memorial service will be held at 11 AM Thursday March 22, 2012 at the Longmont Moose Lodge. Military honors by American Legion Post 32 of Longmont. Cremation service was provided by Ahlberg Funeral Chapel and Crematory. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Hospice Care of Boulder and Broomfield Counties or charity of donor�s choice.
