Note
LaDonna Brandt LaDonna M. (Biesterfeld) Brandt (86) Mankato - LaDonna Mavis Biesterfeld Brandt passed away on September 16, 2021, at Laurel's Edge Assisted Living in Mankato. A Memorial Service will be held in October with visitation prior to the service at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in North Mankato. Private burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery, Wells, Minnesota. LaDonna was born in Wells, Minnesota, on January 9, 1935, to Henry H. and Ada (Kontzelmann) Biesterfeld. Her mother passed away when she was less than three years of age; however, she was lovingly raised by her father and step-mother, Esther. LaDonna graduated from Wells High School and played violin in the Orchestra. She was united in marriage to Lyle C. Johnson, and to this union they had two children and later divorced. LaDonna was united in marriage to Richard E. Brandt, and to this union they had three children and later divorced after raising the four children on the farm. As a housewife, LaDonna worked hard on the farm, always harvesting the garden produce and then cooking wonderful meals to feed the family along with any extra farm help. She also enjoyed her flower garden and a variety of houseplants in addition to sewing for the family. LaDonna had several hobbies; however, she was most known for her crocheted doilies. Even with her hands riddled with the side-effects of rheumatoid arthritis, she continued crocheting, and it is truly special if you were gifted with one of her finished doilies. LaDonna did work outside of the home in later years and particularly enjoyed working at Peterson's Department Store and the Wells Community Center. After moving to Tucson, Arizona, she worked at the Gens Rossler Farmers Insurance Agency, a position she loved not only because of the type of work but also because Gens and Sandra were extraordinary people. LaDonna loved Arizona. The weather was conducive to her health, plus she had family close by. It was a treat to visit her, as she was quite the hostess and loved to introduce you to all that Arizona had to offer! Eventually though, it was time to return to Minnesota to be closer to immediate family due to health reasons. LaDonna is survived by her children, Linda Johnson-Dulas, Lowell (Kari) Johnson, Tracy Brandt and Wayne (Verlie) Brandt. She is survived by grandchildren: Jeremy (Angi) Dulas, Brad (Mary) Dulas, Greg Johnson, Melissa (Brian) Rath, Joshua (Jessica) Johnson and Jamie Brandt; great-grandchildren: Ansen and Gabby Dulas, Corinne and Althea Dulas, Justin and Ellie Rath and Hunter and Kenzie Johnson. LaDonna is also survived by sisters, Jean (Bill) Braun and Joyce (Bert) Salisbury, along with numerous nieces and nephews. LaDonna was preceded in death by her parents, Ada and Henry H. Biesterfeld and step-mother, Esther (Mohr) Biesterfeld; infant son, Darren Brandt; sisters and brothers-in-law, Myrtice (Arthur) Yost and Carolee (James) Stenzel; brother and sister-in-law, Lester (Ione) Biesterfeld. Linda would like to thank the staff at Laurel's Edge Assisted Living and the staff with Moments Hospice for the kind and compassionate care they provided for her Mother. Linda would also like to thank the friends who took time to visit LaDonna or sent cards. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Moments Hospice Mankato or your charity of choice.
