| Shared note | Virginia Cooper, age 85, of Wells, MN, died Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at Sunrise Cottage Senior Living in Mankato, MN. A Memorial Mass will be held Monday, August 20, 2012, at 11:00 AM at St. Casimir Catholic Church in Wells, MN. Visitation will be Sunday, August 19, 2012, from 2-6 PM at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells, and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Father Tom Niehaus will officiate and burial will be in St. Casimir Catholic Cemetery in Wells. Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells, MN is in charge of arrangements. Virginia Cecile Cooper was born August 19, 1926, in Omaha, Nebraska, the daughter of Winnifred (Collins) and John McKean. She attended school in Orland Park, Illinois and was a Class of 1945 graduate of Orland Park High School. Virginia was united in marriage to Vincent L. Stenzel at St. Casimir Catholic Church June 2, 1948. They operated a farm near New Richland. To this union, two daughters, Julie and Janice were born. Vince preceded Virginia in death in 1952. Virginia married Louis D. Cooper in 1954 and moved to Orland Park, IL. To this union, one daughter, Joanne was born. Louie also preceded Virginia in death in 1982. Virginia moved to Wells with her daughters in 1959 where she owned and operated the Looking Glass Beauty Shop in Wells for 45 years. Virginia was an active member of St. Casimir Catholic Church and the Wells Legion Auxiliary for over 24 years. She was a vital part of the Wells community, volunteering her services at Broadway Apartments, Parkview Care Center, and Wells School District. In her retirement years, she was a hairdresser for Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells and enjoyed traveling, reading, and was an avid walker. Virginia is survived by three daughters, Julie (Thomas) Hughes, Janice (John) Mahaffey, all of Henderson, Nevada, and Joanne (Duane Suess) Cooper of Wells; six grandchildren, Scott (Amy) Hughes of Maple Grove, Dale Hughes of Anchorage, AK, Mindi (Chad) Bebault of Robbinsdale, Tara (Dustin) Mershon, Kyle Hueper, and Kory Hueper, all of Mankato; the proud great-grandmother of five great-grandchildren, Holly, Noah, Ethan, Aurora, and Tobias; two brothers, David (Karen) McKean of Alden and Dick (Diane) McKean of Blackduck; sister-in-law Myrna McKean of Freeborn and many nieces and nephews. Virginia is preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Johnnie and Bert; and sister and brother-in-law, Betty (Bob) Schuster. |
