Funeral services for Donald P. Stencel, of Albert Lea, will be held 10 a.m Tuesday, May 4, at St Theodore Catholic Church in Albert Lea. The Rev. Robert Schneider will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, New Richland.
Mr. Stencel died Friday, April 30, 2004, at the Seasons Hospice in Rochester. He was 74 years of age.
Donald was born May 1, 1929, in Mankato, the son of Peter and Barbara (Staloch) Stencel. He graduated from high school in Minnesota Lake. Donald served his country in the U.S. Army from 1948 until 1950.
Donald was united in marriage to Delores Rathai on Oct. 26, 1948, in Minnesota Lake. Together they made there home in Albert Lea where he was employed by the Wilson Co. for over 33 years.
In his free time, Donald enjoyed hunting and fishing, and spending his winters in Arizona.
Donald is survived by his wife, Delores of Albert Lea; daughter, Kimberly Stencel of Albert Lea; brothers-in-law: Marvin (Agnes) Rathai and Maynard Rathai, both of Mesa, Ariz.; and sister-in-law, Everald Sailor of Minnesota Lake.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Ambrose, Victor, two infant brothers; and one sister, Bernadette Thomas.
Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.
