A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, December 31, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Casimir Catholic Church in Wells. Visitation will be held at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells on Sunday from 2:00-4:00, with prayer service at 4:00. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church. Father Thomas Niehaus will officiate and interment will be in St. Casimir's Catholic Cemetery in Wells. Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells is in charge of arrangements. Clem was born October 23, 1909 in Freeborn County, Carlston Township, the son of John and Martha (Staloch) Bias. He married Marcelline Sipple June 4, 1947, to this union 7 children were born. Marcelline preceded Clem in death in 1976. He then married Darlene (nee DePoppe) Schmidt on May 26, 1990 in Wells at St. Casimir Catholic Church. Clem belonged to the Knights of Columbus and was lifelong member of St. Casimir Catholic Church. Clem enjoyed traveling with his wife Darlene to Alaska and they also toured several other countries. He traveled to Honduras with his grandchildren. Clem was a lifelong farmer, and enjoyed going with his sons to tractor shows, gardening with his daughter and finding projects to fix on the farm. He liked to talk politics.
Clem is survived by his wife, Darlene, of Alden; children, Teresa (Bud) Jarvis, Alden; Tony (Patricia) Bias, Wells; Patricia (Floyd) Otdoerfer, Coralville, IA; Virginia Bias (Gene Rudebusch) Alden; John Bias and Aloysius Bias, both of Wells; Bernard (Becky) Bias, Alden; 12 grandchildren: Christopher Jarvis, Jennifer Redman, Ruth Lewis, Laura Whalen, Richard Bias, Sara Bias, Amy Otdoerfer, Elias Otdoerfer, Marcelline Rudebusch-Kong, Blaine Bias, Brice Bias, and Ben Bias; step-children: Cheryl (Tom) Schlosser, St Cloud; Faith (Larry) Soost, Alexandria; Lori (Stan) Creamer, Golden Valley; step-grandchildren: Mark Schloesser, Shane Cole, Meriah Cole, Rhonda Gill, Terri Hilton, Gary Oothoudt, Kyle Jensen, Blair Miland, and 10 great grandchildren and 14 step-great grandchildren; Brother Charles Bias, St. Anthony, Minnesota and several nieces and nephews.
