Ordell Sorum Ordell Sorum, age 69, of Decorah, IA, died on Thursday, June 4, 2015, at Gunderson Health Center in Lacrosse, WI. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 8, 2015, at the Decorah Lutheran Church with Rev. Stacey Nalean Carlson officiating. Burial will be in the Glenwood East Cemetery, rural Decorah, Iowa. Friends may call from 2:00-5:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 7, 2015, at the Schluter – Balik Funeral Home, 604 South Avenue in Decorah, and also after 10:00 a.m. at the church on Monday morning. There will be I.O.O.F. service at 5:00 p.m., on Sunday at the funeral home. Ordell Stanley Sorum was born on September 11, 1945, in Waukon, IA, the son of Andrew and Loretta (Engen) Sorum. Ordell attended Waukon Schools and graduated in 1963. After high school he attended Waldorf College for two years and then finished his education at Luther College in 1967. On May 21, 1966, Ordell married Bonnie Roverud at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Decorah. To this union three children were born: Erik, Rona and Andrea. Ordell taught and coached at South Winneshiek from 1967 until 1974. He then worked as a salesman for Ralston-Purina. He also farmed and sold dry goods. For the last seventeen years he was a salesman for Troy Corporation. Ordell enjoyed reading and attending all of his families’ activities. He also enjoyed his coffee club at McDonalds. He was a member of and very involved with Glenwood Lutheran Church and the I.O.O.F., Winneshiek lodge #58. Ordell is survived by his wife: Bonnie Sorum of Decorah, IA. Three children:Erik (Connie) Sorum, El Dorado, KS; Rona (Larry) Leliefeld, Decorah, IA; and Andrea (Keni) Ewing, Decorah, IA. Ten grandchildren: Sarah, Cael and Sydney Sorum, Kyla, Keegan, Kaden and Kinley Leliefeld, Cooper, Carsyn and Cannyn Ewing. Brothers: David (Mary Lou) Sorum of Waukon, IA, Jerry (Irene) Sorum of Medford, MN. Sisters: Ardys (Donn) Johnson of Faribault, MN, and Mary Jean Kolsrud of Savage, MN. Sister-in-law: Nora Zien, Baltimore, MD. Ordell was preceded in death by his parents: Andrew and Loretta (Engen) Sorum. Father-in-law and mother-in-law: Arnold Roverud and Kathryn Borseth. Sister-in-law: Virginia (Gale) Nelson. Brother-in-law: Gerald Jung.
