MARK SERVED IN THE US MARINE CORPS IN THE SOUTH PACIFIC IN WWII. MARK WAS AT IWO JIMA. IWO JIMA WAS THE SITE FOR ONE OF WWII MAJOR BATTLES. THE UNITED STATES TROOPS SUFFERED HIGH CASUALTIES. MARK WAS FORTUNATE TO HAVE SURVIVED THIS PERIOD. Obituary: Mark W Stanley, 80 died Feb 23 at Sierra Vista, AZ. He was born on a farm near DeLamere, March 29, 1920, son of Victor and Sarah Stanley. He grew up in Milnor and attended school through eighth grade there. His first teacher was Hatti Austin. As ayouth he loved hunting, boxing and riding motorcycles, especially with his close friend Charles Long. He later operated a bar and liquor store in Elliot. In 1944 he joined the Marines and served in the Pacific theatre. He was wounded in the battle for Peleliu, for which he recieved the Purple Heart. after the war he bouoght a beauty shop in North Platte, NB, and continued in the business of hair dressing until he retired. Graveside ceremonies were held in Sierra Vista March l. He is survived by; three brothers, Dareland Jeff, both of Minneapolis, and Lew, Orlando, FL; a sister, Sharon, Orllando, FL and his wife, Betty, Denver, CO. He was preceded in death by a daughter, two sons and a sister. MARK WAS ALSO MARRIED TO FRANCES MC GILL FINCH, MARK ALLEN STANLEY WAS BORN TO THIS MARRIAGE. HE WAS BORN AND DIED IN 1981 THERE WERE NO CHILDREN BORN TO THE MARRIAGE OF MARK WARNER TO BETTY ELIZABETH FARROW WAGNER.
