Irene L. Simonson, age 84 of Spooner, Wisconsin, died August 12, 2008 at her residence. Irene was born September 25, 1923, in Clayton, Wisconsin to Emma (Wetzel) and Herman Elmer. She grew up in Clayton Township and Little Falls, Wisconsin.
Irene lived in the Amery, Wisconsin area. She married Stanley Simonson on June 21, 1947 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Amery, Wisconsin. After losing Stanley in 1976, Irene moved to the Yellow Lake area near Webster, Wisconsin in 1978. Irene has been a resident of the McKenzie Lake community for the last 10 years.
Irene was preceded in death by her parents, husband Stanley, sisters Bernice and Ardis, brother Ralph, sister-in-law Marilyn Elmer and brother-in-laws Arthur Hamann and Benton Waalen.
Irene is survived by her sons Steve Simonson of Webster, Wisconsin and Richard (Susan) Simonson of Oregon, Wisconsin, daughters Dianne (Harold) McCann of Stillwater, Minnesota, Pam (Dave) Cramlet of Amery, Wisconsin and Dawn Simonson of Spooner, Wisconsin, grandchildren Jason, Eric, Kelly, Casey, Emily, Nick and Jake, great-grandchildren Justin, Brandon and Morgan, sisters Evelyn Hamann of Amery, Wisconsin and Viola (Perley) Haugerud of Amery, Wisconsin, brother Ted (Marion) Elmer of Danbury, Wisconsin, sister-in-laws Jeanette Waalen of Amery, Wisconsin and Arlene Elmer of Amery, Wisconsin, many other relatives and friends.
Funeral service was held August 15, 2008 at Scalzo-Taylor Funeral Home, Spooner, Wisconsin, with Chaplin Jon Schaffer officiating. Music was provided by James Haugerud. Interment was August 16, 2008 at the Amery Cemetery, Amery, Wisconsin. Casketbearers were Tim Bennett, Gary Beitel, Jacque Hensley, Don Jacobson, Leo Beitz and Chet Novak. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Scalzo-Taylor Funeral Home in Spooner, Wisconsin. |
