Note
Richard Edward (Dick) Brandt, age 88, of Wells, MN, died Sunday, February 16, 2020 at United Hospital District in Blue Earth, MN. A funeral service will be held Friday, February 21, 2020 at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells at 3:00 PM, with Pr. Meg Sander officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery in Wells with Military Honors accorded by the Wells Color Guard. Dick was born September 23, 1931, in Clark Township, Faribault County, MN, the son of William F. and Maleta S. (Passer) Brandt. He lived on the "home place" his entire life, a century farm since 1988, with the exception of his 4 years in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. Dick married LaDonna Biesterfeld in 1956 and the couple later divorced. Dick was a farmer, Del Monte's night boilerman, worked winters at Queen's and a truck driver. After retirement, he worked for the local farmers during the fall and also operated Clark Township's road grader for many years. He liked bowling, dancing to old time music, fishing, hunting, furniture refinishing, mowing lawn and sitting under a shade tree on a warm summer day. He was a former member of Clark Township Board, NFO member, Wells Sportman's Club and American Legion member. He was a current Wells VFW member. He is survived by daughter Tracy Brandt (Alan Korman) of Wells, son Wayne (Verlie) Brandt of Washington, and long-time companion Lucy Schroeder of Wells. He is also survived by his stepchildren: Linda Johnson-Dulas of Mankato, MN, and Lowell (Karri) Johnson of Aitkin, MN; 7 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Raymond in infancy, his sister Dorthy and son Darren William in infancy. Dick leaves behind a large bunch of friends and acquaintances. He also left a lot of memories, jokes and one-liners! Bruss-Heitner Funeral Homes - Wells, MN
