Death Takes Widow of Businessman - Mrs. Josephine H. Ley, 70, 61 1406 North West Street, Carroll, died in a Sioux City hospital Tuesday. She was the widow of Andy G. Ley, a Carroll clothier.


Requiem high mass will be celebrated by the Rt. Rev. Msgr. Hemy B. Karhoff at 9:30 Friday morning in St. Lawrence Church. Interment wiLl be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, where graveside services also will be conducted by the Legion of Mary of St. Lawrence parish. Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 7 p.m. Wednesday. Members of Court St. Rose of Lima No. 6, Catholic Daughters of America, will recite the rosary at 8 p.m. Wednesday. The Legion of Mary rosary is scheduled for, 3 p.m. Thursday and the St. Lawmence parish rosary at 8 p.m. Thursday.

Mrs. Ley was born Feb. 2, 1898, at Carroll, a daughter of John and Mary Ann Huegerich. She spent her young womanhood here and graduated from Carroll High School. She also graduated from St. Angela Academy, after which she was employed as secretary for the law firm of Salinger, Reynolds and Meyers until her marriage to Mr. Ley. The wedding took place July 23, 1928, at SS. Peter and Paul Church.

Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Vic Olerich of Carroll and Mrs. Edward B. Dopheide, Sioux City; and several nieces and nephews. Her husband died in 1961. A sister and three brothers also preceded her in death.

Mrs. Ley was a member of St. Lawrence Church and Ladies Guild and an active charter member of the Legion of Mary of the parish. She also belonged to the St. Anthony Hospital Auxiliary; Court St Rose of Lima No. 6, Catholic Daughters of America; and Maurice Dunn Unit No 7 American Legion Auxiliary.
